Step 2:  Open your new account online or in person.

Step 3: Let your employer know.

And any other sources of regular income like Social Security/Disability deposits, Retirement/Pension payments or Investment Dividend deposits. Inform them that you have a new checking account for any direct deposits made to you. To do this you’ll need to have:

Step 4: Update your bills. 

Be sure to update any monthly or regular bills (utilities, auto loans, home mortgage, etc.) that you pay. To make sure none of your bills/subscriptions aren’t forgotten, we’ve created a switch list to help.

Close your old checking account(s). Make sure all pending purchases/payments have cleared before closing your old account!
